Congratulations Tommy!! Elvis Explosions "Spirit of Elvis" award winner 2 years in a row!!!!
We had a wonderful time!! Our captain dodged a hurricane by going around it, and we still managed to see all of our ports!! We had a great group with us, and it was wonderful to have my whole family come with!! I will be posting pictures shortly.
Life to the Maxx (WCCO TV) did a special on Tommy and it was aired on May 23rd at 11pm. They showed what a well rounded young man he is, and that he handles a schedule of school, sports, and Elvis, and does well at all of them. It was a really nice segment. I will try to get a link to watch online.
Listen to K102, Kool 108, and Cities 97 in the mornings, and afternoons and you may hear a commercial for our Valentines show for St. Jude. Steve and Tommy went into the studio last week and recorded the commercials. They are supposed to be played between 6 and 10 am, and also for the afternoon commute. Also, look along the highway, there are 6 billboards of Steve advertising the show around the cities.
Fox 9 News did a piece on us at Mountain Mudd Coffee Shop in Maple Grove. To view this clip click on Fox 9 on our web bar.
We had an amazing time on our November Cruise! First, we spent 3 wonderful days in Pompano Beach, Florida at a place called Lighthouse Cove. This was an incredible resort right on the beach. And yes, Tommy, I let you win at ping pong! We did a concert in Glades Presbytarian Church, in Boca Raton, Florida, and it was a great time!! Sunday we swam in the ocean all day! The weather was perfect!! Then, on to the cruise. We started out in Fort Lauderdale. We set sail at 5 pm and had our Welcome Aboard Show. It was a great way to start off the cruise! The next day we were in Key West, what an incredible place. The water is an amazing turquoise color! We took a trolley train tour of the city. The architecture is fantastic, and beautiful. One funny thing about Key West, they let chickens roam free everywhere! It was pretty funny. That evening, Steve and Tommy had their own show. It was a big success! This was also formal night, so we all got dressed up and went to the captains reception. Wednesday we were in Cozumel. We decided to go ashore and spend the day shopping. There is a brand new pier they just opened up, and it was gorgeous. It had grass huts, beautiful gardens, and cute little shops. We walked by a small bar on the pier, and all of a sudden everything stopped! The bar got quiet, and this little tiny woman ran out of the bar screaming ELVIS ELVIS ELVIS at Steve. She just about knocked him over!! Then all the bar patrons ran out and took their picture with Steve. It just goes to show you that Elvis is known all around the world! It was pretty funny! That night was Art's show. Another successful show! We went to a show this night that was great. The Platters were on board! They still have one original member, Herb Reed. Herb actually knew Elvis. They put on a fantastic show. Thursday we went fishing in Belize. We had so much fun!! We caught Groupers, Porgys, Snappers, and other strange fish. Tommy outfished us all! He caught 11. He also caught the biggest fish. Our guides were great! They baited our hooks, took off our fish, steered us to where the fish were, and fed us fresh pineapple and bottled water. This was an awesome excursion, and I would do it again in a heartbeat!! This night was our informal Sing Like A King night where the fans in our group could come up and sing with the guys, or they could make requests. They could ask questions of Steve, Tommy, and Art, and get to know each of them a little more personally. It really is a nice touch. Then there was the incredible moonlight buffet out on the pool deck. Then we come to friday, our last full day. We spent the day at sea, so we checked out the pool deck, soaked up the sun, and shopped in the shops on the ship. Whew, say that three times fast!! We were asked to do an all ship show on Friday, and the room was packed!!
In the front row was Herb Reed from the Platters. We took what we thought were the best parts of the shows from the week, and put them together into one show. The crowd loved the show, and Steve got a standing ovation from Herb Reed for his rendition of MY WAY. What an honor!!!! After the all ship show, we did our gospel show. This is always the highlight of the cruise. Such beautiful music!! 2 of the members of the Platters stayed for the gospel show as well. They were so kind, and had such nice things to say about the guys. They were really wonderful people. The gospel show was an enormous success! We spent the evening talking with the rest of our group discussing the highlights of the cruise and spending time together. Then, it was time to pack our things. Suitcases needed to be in the hall by midnight....well in our case..one AM. Then....HOT TUB!!! Saturday morning, disembark the ship, go to the airport, and the trip home was definitely the weakest link of the trip. We won't even go there, but I must say, Art and Jean are awesome people to spend HOURS at the airports with. Jean likes to play cards too! Spoons was fun, as well as all the other games we passed the time playing. Thank you so much Scott and Stacy for coming!! It meant a lot to us!! We have a great crew coming in August!! It will be a blast. Stacy got Tommy to try escargo, and tofu. I will post pictures on the web soon! They are quite interesting. I have to say to the crew of Mahwey Productions, LLC.....Ellen, Goldie, Kelly, Mike, Dave, and also to Art and Jean, you are such great and wonderful friends!! We are so blessed to have you in our lives!! CAN"T WAIT FOR AUGUST 2009 TO DO IT ALL AGAIN!!
Steve competed at the Anoka County Fairgrounds on Sunday 9/21 in the Anoka River Run Elvis contest, and took 1st place!!
Steve was a finalist at the Elvis Explosion in La Crosse the weekend of September 5th through the 7th! It was a great weekend with some phenomenal performances by several ETA's from around the world. Steve wowed the crowd on Friday with "Sweet Caroline" and "Impossible Dream"!
In the finals on Sunday he performed "Let it Be Me", "I Can't Stop Loving You", and "You Gave Me a Mountain". The audience was thrilled!! He received excellent scores from the judges.
TOMMY won the "Spirit of Elvis" award which is voted on by the fans. He was awarded a guitar for his prize. Way to go, Tommy!!! Pretty impressive to win this coveted award in your very first contest!!!!!!!!
Steve and Tommy both performed on 2 riverboat cruises on Saturday Morning, and had a great time. The also sang a duet "Swing Down Sweet Chariot" during the gospel show on Sunday morning.
Thank you so much to the several fans that made the trip down with us!! We especially enjoyed the pep rally-pizza party Saturday night! What a great time to spend with some great friends!
